Top PS4 Games To Play In 2018

In the gaming world, every year comes with its own vibe and hype for the best games to play. 2017 had its fair share of remarkable games and these made gamers hungry for more. The expectation of every gamer is to see and have a whole new gaming experience. We have compiled a list of the top PS4 games to play in 2018. However, we are just about halfway into the new year, so we are still expecting more games to drop.

4. Shadow of the Colossus

  • Developers: Bluepoint Games
  • Publishers: Sony Interactive Entertainment
  • Platform: PlayStation 4

Shadow of the Colossus was initially released in North America and Japan in October 2005, it was written by a group of Japanese developers. The game had its latest HD remake on PS4 in 2018, and it has proven to be a major attraction especially for gamers who played its previous version.

The game Shadow of the Colossus tells the story of a young boy’s quest to bring his love back from the dead by killing 13 giant creatures. It has an influential title in the video game industry as one of the greatest games of all time. Shadow of the Colossus is often regarded as an important example of video game as an art due to its landscape designs, gameplay, and its emotional journey.

The game however had good ratings from platforms like Trusted Reviews who gave it a 10/10 rating and polygon an impressive 9.5/10.

A few of the pros and cons of this game are:

  • Adds new challenges and collectibles
  • Unspeakably beautiful
  • Detailed Photo Mode

  • The horse is still annoying to control (that gets me too, after trying the game).

3. The Inpatient

Developers: Supermassive Games

Publishers: Sony Interactive Entertainment

Platform: PlayStation 4 (VR)

The Inpatient was released on the 23rd of January 2018. It is a psychological horror video game and a prequel to 2015’s choice-driven horror game Until Dawn, with the same writers and director at the helm. Gamers will take control of a sanitarium patient out to reclaim their missing memories. There are voice recognition and player choices which affect how you interact with the other residents of the asylum and also changing how the story ends.

It’s ratings from platforms are:

6/10·Trusted Reviews

  • From our research we’ve observed that The Inpatient rivals Batman: Arkham’s VR as the best looking PSVR game.
  • Its voice recognition works perfectly.
  • So real that it causes a sudden startle or scare to gamers.

  • It’s DualShock 4 makes it almost impossible to examine objects.
  • There is no variety as to its usability and things you can do in the game.
  • I noticed that it gets over far too quickly, especially given the price they charged for its purchase.

2. Yakuza 6: The Song Of Life

Developers: Sega

Publishers: Sega

Platform: PlayStation 4

Yakuza 6: The Song of Life is an action-adventure video game developed and published by Sega for PlayStation 4. The game is the seventh main entry in the Yakuza series of action-adventure games, and was released in Japan on December 8, 2016.

Often touted as the conclusion to protagonist Kazuma Kiryu’s story, the game sees the ex-gangster fighting to protect his surrogate daughter, Haruka, and her infantile son from a dangerous organization hunting them. The first thing you’re likely to notice about Yakuza 6 are its sweet and impressive  visuals, which is a massive step up from its predecessors.

Built from the ground up with a new graphical engine, this game received ratings from gaming platforms 83% on Metacritic, 7.5/10 on IGN,  and 9/10 on Trusted Reviews.

  •  A spectacular conclusion to Kiryu’s story
  •  We love it’s brutal and engaging combat
  •  The game gives gamers two distinct cities to explore
  •  There is an overwhelming amount of stuff to do

  •  No more UFO Catchers
  •  Camera can be finicky at times
  •  The last we’ll see of Kazuma Kiryu

1. God Of War

Publishers: Sony Interactive Entertainment

Platform: PlayStation 4

This is for us the best so far this year, we guess maybe it’s because of the consistency of the developers over the years. God of War is an action-adventure, hack and slash, mythology-based video game series, originally created by David Jaffe. Its first release was on the 22nd of March 2015. The new edition was recently released on the 20th of April 2018.

From our experience with the game so far, we have the hope that this would be the most played game this year. All we can do is wait and see.
